Sip: Drinks Abroad (“Sip,” “we,” “us”) is a drinks encyclopedia and cross-language bar companion for adults of legal drinking age. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
You can use Sip without an account. Then your preferences, favorites, and tried drinks are stored only on your device — we don’t receive them.
If you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and phone number to create and secure your account and contact you about it if needed. Your password is stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider; we never see it.
We store your Passport (drinks you save and mark as tried) and your spots — when you log “I’m having this here,” we store the drink, the place (name and address), your device’s location at that moment, and the time.
Sip uses your location only if you enable it, to (a) suggest the country you’re in and (b) find nearby places when you log a spot and remember where you logged it. You can turn it off anytime in Settings or iOS Settings.
Only to provide and improve Sip — run your account, sync your Passport across devices, and remember your spots. We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps or websites.
We use Supabase (secure database and authentication) to store your account and data, and Google Places to find venues near you (when you log a spot, your coordinates are sent to Google to return nearby places). We share data only with these providers, only to operate Sip.
You can edit or remove saved drinks and spots in the app, and request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing us — we’ll delete it promptly.
Data travels over encrypted connections and is stored with row-level access controls, so each account can reach only its own data.
Sip is intended for adults of legal drinking age and is not directed to children.
